Today, we worked on escaping from being fully mounted, and submissions when the bottom person tries to turn to the side to escape.
First, we started with one person on bottom and one mounted on top.
From bottom:
- Put hands together and push the top persons leg down away
- Bring knee to hand
- Bring leg over their leg for half guard
- Get hand on their bicep and forearm under their chin and make frames
From bottom:
- Do the same as move one, but now add left knee in front of their body
- Position the knee to keep the opponent from going over top of leg, balancing them
3a. Shrimp out to the left and bring the other leg out for closed guard (both legs wrapped around their body)
3b. Scissor sweep
Next, we worked from the top to counter the bottom moving to escape.
From the full mount on top:
- Wait for them to attempt turning to the side and bringing leg and hip up to their hand.
- Stop the attempt by going into a modified mount on top on their side
3a. Go to S-mount with the front foot curved under their arms. Knee behind their head, scoop their arms and hug their closest arm to body , lean to side and bring other foot around their head and sit back straight , tilt arm towards their pinky to finish armbar
3b. Go to S-mount , get one arm under their head and the other under their top arm. Put the foot/ shin on their back and sit back to the tail bone , rolling them over. Bring back foot to front and do NOT cross feet, if accidentally cross legs, and they wrap them up, push their head down to release them and don’t do it again. Get under their chin and apply pressure to choke.
One thing I hit successfully: I rolled partner into a rear naked choke
One thing that failed: Sitting back onto my tail bone for chair sweep. I just sat sideways and failed to roll him over.
One thing I will try next class: Stay for a few rounds of rolling.
