We did knee and arm guard from bottom half guard to start:
- Put the left knee up on their chest in the “sweet spot” to hold them off
- Flatten hands and use them one on neck/shoulder and the other on bicep/forearm to make space
- Bring the trapped leg out and stand up or get closed guard.
We then did bumping and escaping their hook:
- They have an underhook and arm around the back of your head. Trap their right leg if my let leg is trapped, trap their right leg if they have my left leg.
- Push with opposite-side-from-trapped-leg arm and bump them
- Get the frame on their neck and bicep, push and get the knee up to their chest
- Get the foot out and closed guard them
We did the same thing but the person on top would just practice standing up and disengaging.
We then worked from the top position next.
They have the frame and knee on you:
- You put your right arm through their legs and hold the bottom leg with palm
- Grab the lapel with left hand
- Push down on their top leg and rotate around to get out of their feet
- Turn your palm over and push at the same time scoop behind their head and go to half guard
From the top again:
- When they push with their knee to make space, slide over into reverse half guard, past their knee pushing leg
- Bring my hips up to their arms and keep my upper body in front of my hips
- Creep my trapped foot towards me until I can pull the knee out
- Now you can pull the foot out with the toes pointed down
- Bring the freed foot out and behind and turn to half guard on opponent
Again from the same reverse half guard:
- When you free the knee far enough, push it down to the mat on opposite side
- Then hook behind their head with left arm
- Bring the other foot over their thigh and pry open their legs to free the other leg
- Get a full mount position
