6/1/2026 Jiu Jitsu Class 14
Teacher: Alli
Partner: Juli
Today’s Lesson:
From full mount, turn the guy to the right. S mount, then put my hand under their left arm and grab my other hand. Knee/my right leg on their back and roll to the back right side. Bring the other leg around and gain back control.
Then, there you can put feet up on their left side, left arm goes over behind their head and hold their neck/neck gi. Push the right leg and arms down to get my left leg over their head into an armbar.
If they do head over my left leg then start to escape, pull them and retake back by scooting behind them, and start over.
Notes:
We did a top/bottom rolling exercise at the end.
When I was rolling I felt like I didn’t push as hard as I could have because I didn’t want to hurt myself. But other than that when I was on the bottom I really had trouble figuring out what to do against Juli. I tried bumping him and trapping arms but his arms are very strong. I couldn’t shrimp without him going into chair armbar mode. He kept getting a lot of americanas on me. I have no idea how he was pulling them off but obviously I need to work on defending against that. He did a few from weird angles that I didn’t expect. I tried keeping my elbows in and gripping his gi to keep him from isolating an arm.
When I was on top I didn’t fare too much better, I tried isolating his arms but he was strongly pulling away and I would switch to trying to get an altered mount and turning him , he would slip out and escape each time though , so I wasn’t doing it tightly enough. (I might be 100 lbs heavier than Juli, he can move around me easier , he is much slippier through my offense, but it is also that I can put more weight on him so I should have used that aspect). I tried to do the sticky feet thing I learned online. You put the feet to their hips/thighs when you are attacking to keep them from moving.
I can’t really say more because I forget how things went exactly. He won pretty much 8 times in a row (every time we bumped fist and started) he just won every roll.
