We practiced continuations of what we did the previous week.
Escaping armbar from the bottom (each number is a different escape):
- Slide elbow down and scoop their thigh from inside then come around and gain side control
- Push their leg above your head and then put your head down on their leg and hold it there. When they pull your arm you twist around and adjust hands to forward.
- Push their leg onto your foot hook (put your knee up opposite the armbar and slide their leg into the divot with your shin and foot). Push the leg out , when extended and they pull the armbar, you twist your hips and push their leg down to trap it , then gain side or half guard.
Next, we practiced armbars from mounted position by going into S-mount. S mount you push their arms up to their head, then you slide up their chest with your top mount. Next, you push them to the side or let them turn sideways, then you turn into S mount. From there you put your knee behind their head and get your leg close to their arms. You can then post your arm on the floor to lean and bring the back leg around their head, or lean on their body and bring it around. You must have the arm you want to submit hooked with at least your forearm. Then you sit back and bend their arm. If they are holding their hands together you need to break the grip before they escape.
At the end, we did 5 minutes on top 5 minutes on bottom light roll. I remember Charlie letting me do arm trap bump sweeps a bunch of times. Then I would try S mount arm bars, but I couldn’t break his grip and he would sit up and come around side control on me. I am surprised with my cardio at this point, I did well.
