4/7/2026 Day 6
My partners today (busy class) were Roland and Charlie. The teacher was Allison.
We started by posting the right hand on the bicep and the left on the clavicle bone for a strong position to push on. They are on the side position and you shrimp out, put a knee inside and get full guard bringing the right foot around.
Another move we are on top and they post on those hand positions from earlier. We control the left arm (I’m on their right side) with the knee or under legs. From here go to full mount or kimura/americana attempts.
The next part was that we did the same thing but they bring their hips around and we push up on their face (to the left if they are on the right side of me) and I rotate and shrimp my hips around towards the direction they are moving their hips and I push them on their back. From there you get knee on stomach and mount
I have trouble remembering all of the variations right now, but watching my partners I noticed that they were going for many different submission types using the techniques we learned to control the arms. I even watched Charlie go for an arm bar and a rear naked choke.
At the end the class did a drill in which about 5 people lay down then the rest lined up and they basically rolled but doing just what we learned to get control positions. When they were done getting the position the person on top then went down bottom and another size appropriate person would come from the line and take the top. I sat out for this exercise. I watched as the class did this drill for about 10 minutes. At the very end Allison said we would keep working on these ideas through the week.
There was a 5 minute roll at the end that I didn’t do. I want to do the rolling so I need to prepare myself for it mentally and by getting my cardio up and weight down. I have been dieting and using the treadmill to the best of my ability.
