We had a late start today because of an early doctor appointment for dad. It was 49F when we started on the North West River Trail out of Falmouth Trailhead and rode to the White Cliff’s of Conoy. We saw about 6 toads that were run over in the parking lot, unfortunately. It was wet on the trail because of the rain last night and it was overcast when we started. The sun did end up coming out when we were done and eating at McCleary’s. It was about 70F when we ended.
We saw a lot of kids out of school for the Easter holiday. There was a photographer in the middle of the ride – they said the recumbents looked like sofas and were comfortable. There was a couple on a bridge painting and listening to music. At the White Cliffs it was clear and the view was nice.
I saw a giant white bird land in the water and disappeared behind the trees. I could not identify it. The greenery was very cool to see today. The daffodils were blooming. A lot of pollen on the road. The new O-rings held up our rear lights well. The weather has kept a lot of people indoors today. I feel a lot better with my heart-rate and breathing now that I can use the treadmill.
My chain came off when I shifted from 10th gear to the 11th. I needed to use the disposable rubber gloves and a little bit of a pull to get the chain back in place, then I was good to go. I think it was all the shaking from coming down from the White Cliffs that dislodged the chain. I rode in sport mode and then turbo for hills today. We stopped at Lancaster Recumbent in Marietta, PA and they said to drop off the trike for a quick adjustment on the chain.
